A postdoctoral position in translational medicine is available immediately in the Kuhn Laboratory, Cell Biology, at The Scripps Research Institute in La Jolla, CA. The successful candidate will focus on the identification and characterization of rare cell populations of endothelial and epithelial origins in the peripheral blood of patients.
The successful candidate will work in a in a translational science team of physicians, physicists and life scientists to develop a new approach in the detection and characterization of circulating endothelial cells. This project will capitalize on and extend the impact of existing technologies in the laboratory for the detection of circulating tumor cells. For related work, please see

Candidates (PhD and/or MD) must have experience with immunochemistry assay development, and a strong background in cell biology as well as biophysical tools. He/she will be part of a collegial supportive environment and will enjoy state-of-the art facilities and vast collaborative interdisciplinary opportunities. Strong training and participation in projects with lead roles is preferred. Suitable candidates must also have excellent organizational and communication skills and must be self-motivated and detail oriented.
